Tongaporutu painting

Tongaporutu, North Taranaki.

You could well have been wondering if we had abandoned our blog - not so, a new painting (pictured here on the left) was somewhat important and had a tight deadline.
Commissioned as a farewell gift, we also had to keep everything under wraps until the presentation had been done.
Acrylic on canvas, the picture is typical of the area and the foreground boasts (from left to right) common flora - puhutukawa, toe toe (pronounced toy toy!) and flax.
Fortunately, it was completed in time (in part, thanks to the crummy weather, making for painting under the awning whilst away on a caravan trip!) it will hopefully spark many a conversation about New Zealand in general, and Taranaki in particular. Dis al!
